Bell Creek Test Site Site Characterization Report
The Bell Creek demonstration storage project carried out in partnership between the Energy & Environmental Research Center and Denbury Onshore LLC is designed to determine the effect of a large-scale injection of CO2 into the Bell Creek oil field for the purpose of simultaneous CO2 enhanced oil recovery and long-term incidental CO2 storage. This report focuses on the overall site characterization efforts and subsequent results. The specific goals of these efforts include understanding seal integrity; effective storage capacity as well as storage and sweep efficiency; and phase behavior of injected CO2, fluid, and rock matrix. Additional goals include guiding monitoring, verification, and accounting efforts; providing inputs for geologic modeling and predictive numerical simulation; and understand the final fate of injected CO2. Methods used to achieve these goals include reviewing and interpreting existing data (seismic, cores, logs, well files, etc.) and collecting and interpreting new sets of data (updated cores, logs, etc. as well as pressure and temperature surveys, a lidar survey, and outcrop analysis).View/Download Document
