Bell Creek Field Test Site Geomechanical Modeling Report
The Bell Creek demonstration storage project carried out in partnership between the Energy & Environmental Research Center and Denbury Onshore LLC was designed to determine the effect of a large-scale injection of CO2 into the Bell Creek oil field for the purpose of simultaneous CO2 enhanced oil recovery and long-term CO2 storage. This report focuses on site characterization activities, specifically geomechanical modeling using 1D and 3D seismic. The process involves building multidimensional, static geomechanical models and performing dynamic simulations specific to the site in order to assess various injection schemes; guide strategies for monitoring, verification, and accounting of injected CO2; predict geomechanical changes to the reservoir as a result of injection; further understand performance of local reservoirs for production as well as storage; assess risk scenarios; and gain insight into the long-term fate of injected CO2.View/Download Document
